Job Description

Helix BioCompute accelerates clinical genomic sequencing analysis for research hospitals. We are seeking a Senior Python Data Platform Engineer to scale our variant annotation pipelines and HIPAA-compliant data lakehouse.

Responsibilities You will author high-concurrency Python async workers using FastAPI and Polars, manage Apache Iceberg tables on AWS S3, and tune PostgreSQL metadata catalogs indexing hundreds of millions of sequencing samples. You will partner closely with computational biologists to turn experimental algorithms into reproducible containerized workflows.

Requirements Four or more years writing production Python data processing services and REST APIs. Proficiency with PostgreSQL, columnar file formats (Parquet/Iceberg), and AWS batch compute. Commitment to automated data quality testing, lineage tracking, and reproducible Docker builds.
